If you are having a guest over that is Gluten Free... don't just give them Rice Crackers why not try making them a batch of Gluten Free Crackers to go with your Cheese Board or Dips.
Here is a quick and easy recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup Gluten Free Flour Blend (I buy mine from the local health food store)
1 Tbsp Nutlex
1 Tsp of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1/2 Tsp Argave Nectar (you can also use Organic Honey or Maple Syrup if you prefer)
1/2 Tsp ground Himalayan Pink Salt
Approximately 1/2 cup of water (this will depend on humidity etc)
Za'atar Spices for decoration and extra flavour
Method:
Pre-heat your oven to 200C or Fan Forced 190C.
Place all ingredients except for the water into a mixing bowl.
Gently pour in the water and mix ingredients with a butter knife until it comes together to form a thick dough ball. Add extra water a little at a time if the dough is crumbly - your dough should be smooth and easy to roll without falling apart.
Place a large piece of baking paper on your bench move your dough ball to the centre. Now layer another piece of baking paper on top and gently roll out your dough to form a large square. Remove the top layer of the baking paper and using a sharp knife cut your dough into small squares. Gently pull the sheet of squares onto a baking tray. You do not need to separate the crackers as they will shrink.
Spray a little water over the top layer and sprinkle with your Za'atar or other Spice mix.
Bake your crackers for approx 15-20 minutes, depending on your oven and the type of flour used. Crackers should be light and golden.
Allow the crackers to cool on the tray and then break apart. Your crackers are ready to serve or if not serving straight away these may be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
As these are dairy free you can serve them for Vegans as well.
